Why Do Our Feet Peel?
Peeling of feet occurs to everyone. It is just that the amount is different. It is natural and is also a good health-related process. But, at the same time if it gets unusual and repetitive it may mean danger. So, figuring out how often and badly it is happening and why it is happening is an important thing.
The first and the obvious reason is shedding. It is natural for our skin to shade. Cells die and get build up on the skin. They then become flaky and start to peel off.
It always happens when your feet is lack of moisture and dehydration. So it is dry the cells die and then they peel off. On the contrary, if you have moist build up on your feet then you may get an infection.
Sometimes due to genetics, our skin type, whether or any particular activity, our skin becomes dry as a result they shed.
Fungal infection is a health-related problem that makes the skin peel. Though toes are the prime victims they infection and peeling may spread to the bottom of the feet. It may also get crack. Treat it as soon as possible.
Also, health conditions like reactive arthritis or Reiter’s syndrome can cause peeling of the skin on the palms and feet and inflammation of joints, eyes, urinary tract and other parts of the skin. Dermatitis is inflammation of the skin includes conditions like eczema, dandruff, and rashes leading to further peeking of the skin. Even diabetic patients can have it.
Sometimes peelings can be a result of allergic reactions. You can most likely get an allergy from detergent, food or something environmental.
A wrong day spends under the sun can give you burns on your feet as they do on your arms and back. Then the skin cracks and peels. New or tight shoes or wearing uncomfortable shoes cause blisters which leads peeling of the feet.
Sometimes when you have a fever it may cause you sweat excessively drying out the skin. Thus, your feet may get dry then crack and eventually peel.
So like that, things inside your body and things around you can cause your feet to peel and shed.
Where Does It Occur?
Feet can peel from anywhere. It can peel in patches or in whole. It depends on the individual.
Most experience peeling on toes. The skin peels there from nails to the cleavage. Sole areas are mostly cracked and then peel.
In any case, a fresh skin is underneath and the old skin comes off.
How to Treat Peeling Feet?
Treating feet peeling at home is the most convenient and efficient. Few easy ingredients and fine tricks do the job of magic.
1. Make It Hot
Few things are best served hot. Few things again get better when it is heated up. Your feet and it’s peeling problem can be one of those few things. Making them hot, meaning soaking them in hot water (don’t burn yourself though mate, lukewarm is fine enough) helps to lose the accumulated dead cells and soften your skin too. So, that time if you scrub them, the cells will come off easily. Real easy and nice. It is also relaxing. You will find your tensed up muscles losing the strain and relaxing the warm feeling will make your heart melt in it.
You have to find a bowl or tub big enough to fit your feet nicely. Fill it up with lukewarm water that your skin can handle. Soak your feet in it and go relax! You can read a book, have a tea or a healthy drink, watch Netflix, listen to music, observe the nature or just close your eyes and sit. Stay like this for at least 10 minutes.
After soaking you will find your skin getting soft and the cracks, dead cell losing up that is the time to strike the iron hot! Get a pumice stone or a bit harsh bristle brush to scrub off the old and dirty ones. It will be ticklish and …… too ticklish (literary it feels like dying with the friction, way too ticklish you see but anything for the love of smooth feet). Hold it in and scrub off. Once done clean it again and pat it dries nicely.
Put loads of moisturizing or foot cream according to your preference. Putting a pair of sock is really helpful as it locks in the moisturizer and helps to heal quickly. Doing it at night and going to bed in socks is really a good idea. Don’t add liquid soap in the soak unless it is medicinal. Adding Epsom salt will double the trick of relaxing and healing. The high magnesium content in Epsom clears off all toxins making your feet peel less.
Squeezing a lemon in the foot bath is also a good idea. Soak the feet in lemon water for 10 minutes and later scrub with a loofah. Wash them with fresh water and apply moisturizer. Repeat 2 or 3 times a week.
Skin need love and care. By moisturizing them regularly we provide them with the nourishment they need to stay healthy and feel good. Moisturizer keeps them hydrated and as you massage them on your skin, it also improves the circulation.

Your feet need to breathe, so give them sunlight, move in all directions and feel free. Like any normal living thing would like to. Skin is living too you see. You are not dead yet (unless…….). But our feet are most time enclosed in shoes. They trap them, prohibiting them from seeing the sunlight and feel the fresh air.
That is the reason you need to have pairs of comfortable shoes. Fashion is a must. Go and wear some fancy shoes when needed but when you’re lazing, working or hanging out with just friends, do pair up with a pair of comfortable shoes that give your feet enough place to breathe and rest. When you are supposed to walk a long distance, wear shoes that covers your feet completely. It will keep the dust and dirt away. Shoes must have soft insole padding.
